Thunder off to Finals with series-clinching win over Spurs
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant played every minute of a game the Oklahoma City Thunder trailed at one point by 18, leading the Thunder into a new era in the NBA's Western conference.
Durant scored a game-high 34 points, led the team with 14 rebounds and refused to sit in Game 6 of the conference finals as Oklahoma City eliminated the San Antonio Spurs, 107-99.
The Thunder will play in the NBA Finals for the first time since relocating here from Seattle in 2008, and they'll do it with the game's hottest scorer leading the charge.

Durant's team became the 15th in league history to rally from 2-0 down to win a best-of-seven series, as the Celtics will try to match tonight when they host the Miami Heat with a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Such a comeback has never happened twice in the NBA semifinals.
"We're just playing and doing it for each other and great things happening when you play for each other," said Thunder guard Derek Fisher, whose playoff experience with the Los Angeles Lakers helped steady his new team.
"It's happening right in front of our eyes."
With Wednesday night's victory, the Thunder earned four consecutive against the Spurs, San Antonio's first such losing streak since the 2010-11 season. In winning Games 3, 4, 5 and 6, Oklahoma City halted a 20-game winning streak that spanned 50 days.
Durant led a third-quarter rally which helped Oklahoma City climb back from down 18 in the first half. the 6-9 forward scored 14 points in the quarter, including a contested three in front of Stephen Jackson with over 1:30 left in the quarter to take the Thunder's first lead. His 20 second-half points helped Oklahoma City maintain a slim lead for the majority of the fourth quarter.
"This was the toughest game I've played since I've been here," Durant said. "We kept playing hard to inspire my teammates both ends of the floor. And I'm glad I got this for Oklahoma City. …We didn't want to go back to San Antonio."
San Antonio had sprinted to an early lead behind Tony Parker's 17 points and five assists in the first quarter. He had a double-double by halftime (21 points, 10 assists) and finished with 29 and 12.
The Spurs remedied the turnover problem coach Popovich described as "frustrating and maddening" following a Game 5 loss at home. On Wednesday, the Spurs committed just three first-half turnovers after committing 11 of their 21 turnovers in the first half of Game 5. They finished with 12 in Game 6.
San Antonio's point total declined through the first three quarters after scoring 34 in the first behind 60.9% shooting from the field. Their loss drops coach Gregg Popovich's record in games where the Spurs are facing elimination to 7-11. Oklahoma City began the season on a quest to return to the conference finals, where they fell to the eventual-champion Dallas Mavericks a year ago.
Mass. teen guilty in fatal texting-while-driving crash
HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) – A Massachusetts teenager was sentenced Wednesday to spend a year in jail for a fatal traffic accident that happened while he was texting
Aaron Deveau of Haverhill was sentenced to 2 ½ years behind bars with a year to serve and the remainder suspended for the February 2011 crash that took the life of Donald Bowley Jr., 55, of Danville, N.H., and seriously injured Bowley's girlfriend.
Prosecutors say the then-17-year-old high school student sent 193 text messages the day of the crash, including some just a minute or so before impact and dozens more after it.
A Haverhill District Court jury convicted Deveau of motor vehicle homicide and negligent operation while texting. Family members of both Deveau and Bowley, sitting just feet from each other in court, cried and hugged as the verdict was read.
Deveau apologized to Bowley's family. He was among the first people convicted under a law that took effect in September 2010 that created the criminal charge of texting while driving negligently and causing injury. Deveau faced that charge for the injuries caused to Bowley's girlfriend.
Now 18, Deveau, who had faced a maximum of four years behind bars, also was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and surrender his driver's license for 15 years.
Police say Deveau's car crossed the center line on a Haverhill street and crashed head-on into Bowley's vehicle. Bowley, a father of three, died 18 days later of injuries authorities say he suffered in the crash. His passenger and girlfriend, Luz Roman, had an extensive stay in the hospital recovering from her injuries.
"This has been giving me a lot of pain. There are no words to describe," Roman said outside of court Wednesday.
Bowley's sister, Donna Burleigh, said, "We hope this sends a message that it's not OK to text and drive."
Deveau testified Tuesday, saying he was not sending or receiving text messages in the moments before the collision. He said he put his phone on the passenger seat and was distracted and thinking about his homework when the crash occurred. He told police after the crash that he swerved to avoid another vehicle in front of him that suddenly hit its brakes.
His lawyer, Joseph Lussier, said prosecutors failed to prove that Deveau was texting at the time of the crash. Lussier said the number of texts Deveau sent that day was irrelevant.
Nate Webster gets 12 years in prison for sex with a minor

Former NFL linebacker Nate Webster was sent to prison for 12 years Wednesday for having sex with an underage girl.
Webster was convicted of four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, charges that carried a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
The jury convicted Webster of having sex with the girl in the fall of 2009, something Webster admitted to police on a taped statement played to the jury. After his arrest, though, Webster insisted he remembered incorrectly and said he began having sex with the girl in 2010, when she was 16, Ohio's age of consent.
Webster lasted nine seasons in league, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos from 2000-2009.
Much of the sexual activity between Webster and the girl took place in and around the Symmes Township neighborhood where both lived.
